Anyone Started Studying for L3?

So I’ve had my L3 books for over a month now and they’ve been gathering dust. I know it’s very early to start for June 15 but I’m starting to feel like a lazya** for not starting to read them. Also, the # of pages is so much less than L2, I feel like I could get through them 3-4 times by next June.

Anyone else having the same predicament as to whether or not to get started? Thoughts on when the optimal time is to start on L3 for someone attempting it for first time?

Still planning out my strategy but I know I am going to start the second I get my Kaplan books which should hopefully be around the end of October/early November. Unfortunately my Level 2 pass high is coming to a swift end so I think by EO October I should be ready and raring to go.

I am still debating whether or not to read through the entire CFAI curriculum at least once (or just do blue box / EOC questions) before/after going through Kaplan. I have only broken into the CFAI books just to get a sense for the material, LOS’s, etc. I also think I have a good amount of practice exams (both essays and item sets) to keep me busy from April 15th on.

I read one page of CFAI text and couldn’t believe all the horses**t extraneous c**p contained within. Rethinking my decision to not get Schweser/3rd party material.

bump

i started last month… who cares?

I go through both the curriculum and recently-released finquiz notes (contained a few errors) at the same time so that I can cross-reference and gain better understanding about the materials. By doing so, it really helps me to read more actively and thus longer hours till I get bored/tired. This is just my strategy for the first-round reading.

Anyway, everyone studies differently so just do what you think is right for you.

Cheer!

I started to read CFAI books & schweiser two weeks ago. Less quantitative feature and essay quesitons have driven me to think that it’s good to start as early as possible.

november for me.

Good luck folks!

Started reading once from Kaplan…but only on weekends right now…will catch pace as time passes by. Its a lot essay type rading and less of quantitative, so cannot think of going through CFAI material even once. I am finding it hard to go through Kaplan even. So strategy as of now remains the same…reading from Kaplan and doing Blue box questions from CFAI.

no one.

Unfortunately if you want to pass the “hores**t extraneous c**p” must be included in AM session responses. It’s a completely different animal than Level 1 & Level 2.

I’ve started studying already. My busy season is January-April, so I don’t get a lot of studying done during those months, so I have to start early. Plus, as cliche as I’m sure this is, I want to take L3 once and only once, and I figure if I get through the material early, I’ll just go through it again as many times as I can before 6/2015.

Starting in November

I just started studying last month (August) - I started with CFAI SS 3 (Behavioral Finance) and I’ve read through Reading 6 and 7. These are very soft topics - it’s similar to a psychology college textbook. Easy read for sure. I started last month because I was hoping to get a jump on CFAI materials prior to Schweser books being available. As of right now, I’m not sure if I’ll solely read CFAI, or if I’ll use Schweser, as well.

For those that have started studying - what are your impressions? Approach to studying?

I got as far as the study plan template.

Can not physically study… yet…

yeah bras, lets start studying 11 months before a test.

Who gives two c****s??

I was thinking about starting after Christmas this time around, but my wife is pregnant and due a month before the test. So now I am contemplating starting sooner. Life would have been so much easier if I would have passed this year…
