The cost of the events. Each event is like 20-30 bucks?

The events are held about 1.5 hrs drive away.

most (maybe all) of the event i’ve seen are free for members…

Well . . . what would you be doing with that $20 – $30 and 4 – 5 hours if you didn’t attend? How profitable are the time and money in their next best use?

Situation same here in India. Free for members and chargeable for candidates @ $20. Have not attended any session. Cannot comment on the benefits of the gatherings

CFA networking events usually tend to be mostly unemployed or underemployed people trying to break into finance. Very unlikely you’ll see a PM, senior analyst, hiring manager etc that attends these things to “get candidates”

Attended one in indonesia. I think it’s good, seen some charterholders there, not just unemployed or underemployed people

Here they are free and usually have free food and drinks. Can’t hurt to make some new contacts. In my experience it is mostly younger charter holders, not senior level people.

overrated as for the designation.tend to be lower rank financial professional trying to ge up the ladder, there are some senior managers as well but they are not there to find recruits
