Asset management for the public sector

I have an interview coming up with an asset management firm for the public sectors. Does anyone here have experience working in a similar role? Any ideas about typical asset allocations, specific analysis for these areas? How does it differ compared to say private asset management? I’m looking for as much knowledge as possible before my interview. Would love to hear your opinions. Thanks in advance!

some of the public managers are “high profile” -Calpers is just one example and they have been pioneers moving pension funds towards alternative investments…

Not all that different. Take a look at their mandate if available. Is it govt pensions? Is it capital projects?

Will mean different mgmt styles

The particular role I’m looking at looks to be investment analysis on public pensions, endowments, foundations, etc.

Dang. L3 perfectly fits that opportunity
