“California start-up Orion Span announced Thursday ambitious plans to launch the world’s first dedicated “luxury space hotel.” The Aurora Station is penciled in for launch in 2021 and the company hopes it will be able to accommodate space-tourists by 2022, if all goes well.”

“A 12-day stay, however, will still set you back a cool $9.5 million at the very least and you’ll need to put down an $80,000 deposit to get yourself on the waiting list.”

Future news: “rich tourists explode in rocket accident”.

It kinda looks like that module doesn’t have any windows. Seems like that would defeat some of its purpose.

Will the restaurant have atmosphere???

Going to have to change my name to $100K a day now. HOLY smokes, $10M for 12 days in space?

Somehow I get the impression that the sorts of people they’re catering to would be somewhat price insensitive.

There is probably going to be like one circular window, like in other space stations.

is wifi free?

Once you reach Gold Status.

Cool stuff. Also, is that blue guy in the middle somehow going to outer space or is that the window?

yeah really. and of course one of the guys is watching tv while on a $10M vacation. i guess its a win that he’s watching his space trip in real time on tv rather than watching youtube videos about space.

This blue guy?

What do you even for 12 days in this capsule? You can only look at the Earth for so many hours at a time. There’s a big TV I guess. Fapping is presumably out of the question. I think the two guys on the right are looking through a window, so I don’t know what the middle guy is going. Maybe it’s day 1 and he realized his capsule mates are isildurr, purealpha and rahul, and he is just depressurizing and ending it all.

If a baby is born in space is it considered a martian?

The baby should be a citizen of the country where the spaceship lands. For instance, if someone gives birth on a plane going to the US, the baby is considered born in the US.

what if capsule crash lands in the pacific ocean

“It is unclear how people will get to the hotel as Orion is yet to complete any deals with launch providers.”

LoL. So they’ll launch a large satellite with built-in living quarters to orbit the Earth and just have to figure out how to get people safely to it and then back? Kewl. Considering that the only way to get people to ISS now is the Soyuz and Elon keeps blowing up his rockets periodically, their 2022 date for tourists seems laughable.
