Average life

One of the sample question was , which company has the least requirement for capital expenditures. The answer to the question was the company with the smallest average life of asset. I dont understand how. Shouldnt it be the company with highest requirement for capital expenditures as its asset life will end soon and will need to invest more in new assets? Thanks

average asset life = how old (accumulated dep/dep expense). Low number means fewer years of depreciation -> newer stuff
