Average Study Hours

I have done a once over, including writting my own notes and now I am going through all the EOC questions. My plan is to study 3 hours a day (21 hours/week) until the exam. I have to say, it is really becoming a chore to study after work. I have been sneaking in an hour or so at work, which helps some days, but some days it’s almost impossible to get 3 solid hours.

I am curious to what other candidates are putting in for hours a week? Am I being a baby?

I envy that you are once through the curriculum. As for hours per day, I try to shoot for 3 as well, but when things come up at work that keep me later I normally don’t hit my 3 hours. An hour at lunch and two after work is the way to go for me.

Congrats on being through once. When did you start?

I’m still in semi-panic mode (started studying 2.5 weeks ago). I find it’s extremely difficult to study after work, both in terms of time and energy. I mostly concentrate my efforts on the weekend. I’m pushing 22-25 hours from Friday night through Sunday night. I stay b/w 1-2 hours per night M-Th. In all I’m averaging 30 hours/week. My buddy wakes up at 4:30 to study before work – I still haven’t mustered up the drive to try that tactic.

What do you do during your lunch break? I need to start utilizing all the possible time I can (esp. since I can’t focus after work and don’t want to start waking up @4). Pls share.

Whatever needs doing but I find I can do EOCs much easier during lunch than say on the train commute or at home.

It takes me 2 or 3 lunch breaks to do a CFA EOC

Trying to put in 3 hours on weekdays and about 15 hours over the weekend… some days go well, others not so much, Find it easiest to wake up early and study a couple hours before work and review/read a new reading after dinner. I struggled with the very early mornings at first but it seems to work for me as I am more focused and able to concentrate on the material then instead of after a long day at work… I rarely take alunch hour and have a fairly short commute to work during which I usually will review my notes.

I do 1 hour M-T, 2 hr F, 15hrs Sat&Sun total = 21hrs. Going to kick it up to 30hrs by getting into the office at 6am-630am and doing some at night. Perhaps a bit more on the weekend if my mind will hold up. Being an analyst and working long hours plus studying is brutal.

Monday-Thursday I usually study from 8 or 830 pm to 11 or 11:30 pm. The way I have been studying is go through the Elan Videos, do the CFA questions, and then make my own study guide. I usually work during my lunch break on the questions/making my study guide. On Friday’s I study for an hour, my “day off.” On Saturday and Sunday I usually get in 4 to 5 hours per day.

I try to do 2 hours a day M-F and then 10 hours on the weekend. Total of 20 hours a week. Ive found the transition from doing L1 in school to L2 while employed fulltime to be pretty hard. I loved being able to slack completely in school for a couple weeks and knock out a book or 2.
