Average white guy gets into top MBA program with less than average GMAT and 2.75 College GPA

That’s right folks. You heard it first. Today, I had an interview with a top MBA program and was told I would be accepted officially next Thursday after the committee meets. But “not to worry its a near dead certainty that I’m in.” I’m not bragging; I wanted to inspire some of you out there who are thinking about applying cause I know what a bitch the whole process is.

I have GMAT scores that you guys would ridicule and laugh at. In the high 600s

I have a B minus undergrad GPA

But I am interesting and they want me anyway because of it. they’re gonna have to admit two smart Asians just to offset my shit GMAT score, but they like me that much.

So, don’t let the haters of the world bully you with there 740 GMATs (black swan I’m looking at you) and bullet proof c.v.s.

Don’t let them tell you that because you’re a white guy you aren’t diverse, there’s a lot more to diversity than your skin color.

Interesting s.o.b. > than 740 GMAT

Congratulations. That’s awesome. What school? (Roughly, don’t need to give exact name) This is US or EU MBA?

Congrats!

That’s fantastic.

Congratulations on your admittance. Is this a particular university in Switzerland?

Congrats Tikka! Hopefully by the time you finish, the economy will be back in fine shape.

This is a better thread than the white guy who got an African American scholarship!

Did somebody argue that multi-national experience wasn’t in high demand in top MBA programs? Heck, I think places like INSEAD require it.

Copy of acceptance letter or it didn’t happen.

Congrats! Its about time that white males stopping being discriminated against and get their fair share!

Equality for the win!

(btw, you prolly made 20+ India L1 candidates making $40k cry when they read this)

Yes you are. I don’t think white guys need any encouragement to apply for MBAs, judging by the high proportion of white guys I know going for MBAs. Congrats, though. I somewhat regret skipping the MBA, because it would be fun to be a student again for a couple years.

Agreed. I wouldn’t count this chicken before it hatches.

And when you say “top”, is that closer to my definition of “top”, or iteracom’s definition of “top”?

Fun doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Here’s the current US News top ten. Is it one of these? In any case, congrats. Rethinking b-school now because that GPA is right up my alley.

#1 Harvard University

#1 Stanford University

#3 University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)

#4 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan)

#4 Northwestern University (Kellogg)

#4 University of Chicago (Booth)

#7 University of California–Berkeley (Haas)

#8 Columbia University

#9 Dartmouth College (Tuck)

#10 Yale University

Yeah, no kidding. I’d love to be a student again except this time have cash. What a dream.

does this mean you’re leaving india?good riddance

but awesome stuff and congrats.you worried how much smarter your peers might be?

i start work mon,my first job and all my collegues are supposed IIT’ians.

it’s definitely not top 3 and remember, anything less means you have to self castrate with the rusty hacksaw

Usually relevant international experience makes up for a couple of percentile points on the GMAT score. That’s especially important for applicants from countries where typically working overseas is not necessary to have a solid career (the U.S. being the obvious example), under the assumption they chose to leave a potentially more established career path to explore leadership positions abroad.

Congrats. That being said, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and call IMD a top top program.

When CT is talking about “top programs”, he might not be referring to the academics…

By Top MBA he literally meant the MBA program at Top College

Well played CT

You figured it out… I salute your powers of deduction. Genius.
