Yet another example of how horrible it is out there for financial services - unfortunately a number of my ex-colleague CFAs were pink slipped yesterday. I don’t see the climate for financial services hiring improving any time soon, especially in NYC.

Barclays is sort of a special case though. They binge hired everyone after Lehman and others went bankrupt. It was only a matter of time before they fired the excess people that they didn’t actually need.
NYCgorilla is hiring ex-IB chicks to do some back-room M&A (mostly short-term mergers I think). He made $$$ when Lehman went under - those chicks were desparate.
