I’ve discovered that the business school library at my grad school now has Barra Aegis portfolio management software installed on it, and I’d like to learn how to use it. However, the library doesn’t seem to have any written documentation/tutorials for it, and I have to log in to Barra with a name and password (which I don’t have) to look at Barra’s PDF version of the user guide. I can’t imagine that the manual is a corporate secret that requires a license to see… especially since I’m just trying to learn to use their software (and more potential users should drive their sales)… can anyone help me out here?
My b-school gave me the manual. But only hard copy, not a PDF, so I’m not sure how much help that would be to you.

Yeah, it’s 219 pgs. But the PM section is only pgs 7-53. Do you know how to get started? Once you get started, you can usually figure most of it out.
I can figure out a bunch of stuff, but there are certain things that I get hung up on and it’s hard to figure out without the manual. For example, I am having trouble selecting a benchmark to compare my pseudo-portfolio to. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t have access to the right data sets, or maybe there’s a configuration setting I don’t have right, or maybe the data sets are located in a different folder in the hierarchy, etc… Getting those things sorted out - or at least knowing how it is supposed to work, is where the manual really comes in handy. I may just call up Barra and see if they can get me access to the manual.
You may have already tried this but did you check with the Library to see if they had a manual or the person responsible for installing the software, there is usually a chief contact - Barra will only send out manuals with respect the defined number of users so I dont think you’ll have any luck there

Ok, let’s see here, to set the benchmark Data/Benchmarks/Add File/Aegis/UBeqty/200902/20090130/select which one you want/Process I think that should do it.
ah wait, then you might need to go to Portfolio/Settings/Select benchmark
