I know they didn’t see eye to eye but I would really like to read Blake’s thoughts.
I still find this really f u cking sad a year on, such a waste.
Truly sad and still difficult to understand.
Side note- just noticed BS talking about honoring Bchad by showing “decency and class” using his fake Turd account. A similar comment to his real account post.
very true. it’s a hard one to wrap your head around
Bchad was the best. This place has been a cesspool ever since
The soul is eternal, no need for sadness. We are literally playing a game here in our physical existence. I hope he learned what he came here to learn.
rip bchad. a true hero and gentleman
I’ve been out of AF for a long while and I’m very sad to learn about this. I always thought Bchad was amazing. I actually read his posts all the way (even when lack of time made me skip shorter ones by other very smart people) and sometimes even mentioned them to friends or my wife, “honey, this guy has an interesting take on such and such”. She actually got sad when I told her about Bchad.
Unfortunately, we’ve never met in real life, but we did exchange a few e-mails and I felt a special connection since he used to live in my country (Brazil). You guys said it all, but the calm, analytical composure he had in discussing anything was inspiring.
I saved some of his posts. I used one on “how to teach CFA” as my guideline when planning to teach a few classes (it worked BTW)
The guy was amazing. I’m happy to be back on AF, but mainly very sad that Bchad won’t be here again.
I miss him as well. It’s rare to find someone reasonable that shares their variables to coming to a conclusion. Makes conversations way more useful
But I haven’t given up hope! He wrote on such a diverse set of topics, I suspect we will be able to machine learn his personality with AI and have a virtual BChad. Who would really know the difference on a forum?
Can someone create a post that has all the links of his best posts. would love to read on spare time. thx
If anyone ever does create a post that has the links to his best posts, here’s something for it…
Original AF thread: http://www.analystforum.com/forums/cfa-forums/cfa-level-iii-forum/9997817
Background: In 2015, in the first week of June during the very last days of of my preparation for the Level 3 exam, I had sent Bchad a PM asking him if he still had the video. It had been posted on the L3 forum a number of years ago (and was public at the time). However, he subsequently made the video private and the link no longer worked. After receiving my message, he made it public long enough for me to watch it (and I recorded it on my cell phone) and we had a very nice correspondence that week about the final hours of preparation/getting enough rest going into the exam, etc. The video, along with the correspondence with him, was great and so motivating - it helped me ‘up my game’ even further during those last crucial hours. I passed the Level 3 exam and became a Charterholder. So, in light of this, and with nothing but the highest respect for Bchad, (and wishing that this little gem not be lost to AF forever), here is a transcription of that video. I had not posted this to AF earlier due to concerns for privacy and out of respect. (And if it’s still too soon - mods, please delete). It is funny, motivating, and now, bittersweet. You can tell it’s from a few years ago as he makes reference to Stalla. Hopefully, going forward, other members of AF might read the text and find it as motivating as I did. Enjoy and Thanks Bchad!

Pep Talk for the CFA Exam (oriented to Level 3)
Hey! Hey! BChad here, standing in for Peter Olinto!
Now, if you’ve been studying for the CFA exam like I have with Stalla system, you’ll find that normally at about this time Peter Olinto, one of the great motivational teachers and speakers on this topic comes in with a couple of bullet points and a little motivational talk about why it is that you are going to crush this exam and you’re going to get your charter.
For some reason that we don’t quite understand, he’s not there for us at Level 3 and so we’ve got to do it ourselves and I’m here to stand in and give you that pep talk and give you a little bit of advice in the style of the great Peter Olinto, so that you’ll know how it is that you are going to pass this exam. OK?!
So. Do me a favor. Turn the page. Put down this star, because I am going to take you through a couple of points.
Now, first of all, I want you to know that you are going to pass this exam because you DIDN’T GIVE UP.
You didn’t give up with 72 hours to go.
You didn’t give up with 48 hours to go.
You didn’t give up with 24 hours to go.
IN FACT!, you didn’t give up until they told you to put down that pencil or pen and you did, and the only reason you did, is because you didn’t want to be in violation of any ethics rules. OK?!
Now. Turn the page. Write this down. Know it inside and out. No excuses. OK?!
Why are you going to pass this exam?
You are going to pass this exam because you are a TOKER!. That’s right! Toker. T-O-K-E-R. Write it down. I’m going to go through it for you…
OK. T. TIME. You put in the TIME that is required to pass this exam. You walk in knowing that.
O. OWNERSHIP. That’s right. You took ownership of the exam. You took ownership of your study schedule. You shot the dog. You said goodbye to the spouse for six months and you put in the time and you studied for exactly this.
K. KNOWLEDGE. That’s right. You have the knowledge to kill this exam. Know it. Inside and out. OK?
E. EMPLOYED. That’s right. A year from now, you are going to be employed in some kick-ass job that you love because you put in the time and effort and you are going to look back at these moments and say ‘Oh, THAT was worth it!’.
R. RESPECT. That’s right. When you walk into that exam with your mind in a Zen-like state, mind like water as the Zen master says, you are going to know that you are honoring yourself and you are giving yourself respect for all that time and effort. And you are going to respect the other people who also did it - for you and with you.
OK? Now. Great job guys. We’re going to come and we’re going to kill this exam in a couple of days and there is going to be a big ‘ol party on Sunday. So. Go to it guys. See you then.
