Agree on HARD exam. I think the private sector is the one with the highest potential profits. I go for private equity, however the possibilities now are slim, it’s harder to get capital. What’s going on in Egypt as far as IB. I am european based in NYC.
Egypt is better than US and europe , our stock market increased 100% in the last three months , yeah there is a company called citadel egypt private equity …its really HUGE …where do u work mik82??
IB is supposed to re boom in the middle of 2010 in egypt , or so i beleive …
what best? whatever you prefer. Here in US ibankers work crazy hours and make crap load of money (or should I say used to…ehh still do). Ibanking is pretty dead too as this is not good time for IPOs mergers or deals. Traders I’m sure still can be making a killing or looking for jobs depending what and how you trade. Asset Management is more relaxed and less paid (PMs still make a few millions a year) PE was the hottest thing 2 years ago, and as funding dried up and market is down they are just conserving their investments for better days so not much going on there.
Have been working in NYC since 3 years. Graduate from college here but I am italian. I am sell side trader (dont want to disclose where) and I want to switch to private equity or research, really tought to do specially now in NYV. So if i am offered a position like that in europe, I would take it in a second. But dont have connections in europe because I have been living in US for a while.
I think these days best would be to get into PE through distressed…theres action in that segment. However, that being said, I know they only hire on the experienced side so getting in is a little tough.
