I plan on using the CFAI materials primarily but I foresee needing lots of practice.
I need a minimum of 1500 practice questions, in item sets (not Level 1 style questions!) It needs to be in electronic format like Schweser’s Qbank (but I’m not using that) and keeps track of your stats.
Question 1: What’s the cheapest package out there where I can get that?
Question 2: Which package (questions alone) do you think is most worthwhile? It doesn’t have to be the cheapest but shouldn’t contain unnecessary stuff like videos, notes, etc.
I’m interested in the answers you get to Question 2. The general story I’ve gathered is that Schweser is the way to go. I considered Allen Resources, which offers daily deals where you can pick up the question bank alone for a good rate. However, the comments on this forum, possibly not the most up-do-date, suggested the Allen Resources Qbank is a classic “get what you pay for” so it may pay to bear that in mind before you write off Schweser as an option (if price is holding you back). Interested in other alternatives too.
Is anyone using Allen this time round and is the lack of vignettes an issue? I can certainly vouch for Allen’s audio as a quality product.
Allen Resources suck big time as far as their question bank is concerned. There are only three accredited providers out there- Schweser, 7City and Elan Guides. I tried Elan for Level I and it was worth every penny, but they haven’t yet released their questions for Level II.
is it possible to buy the schweser cfa level 2 2013 qbank without having to buy the schweser notes? or is the essential study package the only option to obtain the qbank?
Schweser QBank (i’ve read) isn’t in the same format as the test. That defeats the purpose IMO. After reading stuff on this forum, I bought Finquiz
In December, I will be checking ebay for 2013 used versions of Schweser (Qbank, SS, videos). Thats how I did it for L1 and see they are already being offered for L2
I agree RHZ. I am a finquiz fan too. Helped me personally, extremely reasonably priced.
My email study partner used Schweser and I used finquiz. We used to exchange the points after each test including questions/experience etc. If you can find someone trustworthy like this, that would really help.
Some comments about finquiz (my opinions)
Note: 1. There can be repeat questions
I scored lowest in their practise exams. I took schweser first got a 70+, CFAI got a 69+ and was thrashed to lower 60s in Finquiz. I found them quite tough.
Derivatives in finquiz IMHO needs improvement.
They do test some extremely trivial stuff sometimes to get that numbers.
But overall very happy with finquiz question bank.
Disagree. For me, the whole point of having an electronic quiz bank was to have a very portable/convenient source of hundreds of quiz questions that I could use as a supplement to my reading. I don’t think qbank is intended to be substitute for mock exams. If you’re looking for an exam-realistic format, there are tons of other products that provide that experience.
