Just wondering where you earn the highest salaries/bonuses in financial roles? Thanks.

USA (New York) and UK (London), I think. Disadvantages: high competition and high cost of living. Switzerland also offers high salaries, but is extremely expensive to live in as well.
Narnia

LOL @ narnia. but seriously brosifs, they tax you heaps there. I say the realm of gondor in middle earth has pretty decent finance jobs.

Cost of living is rather high in Geneva and Zurich. Most other places may be expensive but ok, in general. BTW. If you are looking in Zurich and are ok with a nice place outside of town, I am moving, send me a note to 0x042128@gmail.com.
Are you serious USA and London?! I know for a fact that investment banking and high executive compensation(cfo, ceo) is about 30-35% higher in Sao Paulo, Brazil than New York specially now with the weak dollar. Houses like Merril and Goldman in Brazil are paying their 1st and 2nd year analysts about $200.000 US in total comp. in a good year. The cost of living here is definitely higher, you do not eat lunch for less than 25-30 dollars, a honda cívic costs 45 k US dollars, u have cover fees at clubs starting at $100…so you do not live as well as in the US with less money… I guess this is why Brazil is 3rd world and will probably always be, crazy taxation with no returns and heavy corruption
^I don’t know anything about compensation in Brazil, but I find it hard to believe Sao Paulo is more expensive than London or NY.

Sao Paulo is surprisingly expensive, if you want to live in upper middle class conditions or above.
OK, didn’t know that.

Where are you going to be based? I’m heading that way too - Zurich side. I’ve lived there before so might be able to give you some useful info.
^ thanks Dude_cfa. my job is at the city center, still looking around for an apartment, i have a couple of good options now I think! i 've got everything down i think… Oh yeah, my boyfriend wants to know if champions league football is on normal tv or will he need satellite? cheers
He needs to go down to one of the British or Irish pubs. Try Lord Nelson or Paddy O’Reillys for best atmosphere & screens. If he is a Man U fan, i’ll see him down there! You can see pretty much all of them all if you have cable - it will be that you get it in german/italian/french though. Otherwise go for Sky Sports to get the luxury version. Cool on the appt front but know what a nightmare it can be. FWIW I have found a place in a much more tax friendly environment down the lake… If you are at all struggling in your house hunt, try www.homegate.ch (expect you know that by now) and www.englishforum.ch 95% of houses are advertised on homegate (also in English). Lots of expats advertise houses first on the forum - plus it is useful for everything else
thanks that’s really helpful! V. familiar with homegate and through it, and the extraordinary Google maps, with Zurich too! I expect to experience strange déjà vu on arrival. My bf says, and i quote, ‘ask Dude underscore CFA, when he says cable he means extra-payment channel? i.e. something to get rigged up within seconds of arrival!!’ He’s not a fan of Man U but has made beer money backing them and long may it continue.

A number of employers at least match (and often exceed) US-based compensation packages for some positions based in Latin America because it’s very difficult to fulfill some roles. Many incumbents of such jobs have degrees from top US graduate programs, and therefore it’s not possible to low-ball them. Even in other Latin American cities with cheaper COL than Sao Paulo you may find analysts’ annual salaries well in excess of 200K/year. Gini coefficient is your friend in this case.
— (apologies to others for the Portuguese, I haven’t practiced in a long time, but love to take the opportunity every chance I can)
^ muito bom. Quem é você tentando encontrar?
