I mean, if you are Stanford finance PhD material (as a generalization - there is actually no “Finance” PhD at Stanford, though there is a similar program), there’s a good chance that you’re a $250k person or better, or will be during the time that you would have spent in the PhD program. So, if you spend four to five years doing the PhD program, you could lose $1 million.
