Best QBank for Level 3

This is a question that has been asked time and again at all levels.

I do understand we need to hit the blue boxes, EOCs, CFAI mocks , etc. However knowing how practice is important for the exams, especially for AM, based on your experiences or what you have heard, which QBank provider ( Schweser, Fin Quiz, Stalla, etc) is the best supplement to use ?

For its price FinQuiz is not bad as a supplement, any one of you guys have used other providers that you like or dislike?

Cheers,

I used qbank and i generally killed the afternoon. The morning is a killer for me.

Not sure what I will use for 2014 :frowning:

by Qbank … do you mean sch. qbank?

Yes.

Generally I’m great at answering multiple choice because I programmed myself to recognize the answer quickly.

I tried writing out the answers to stuff I wasn’t 100% on but I guess I didn’t do enough.

EOC got me through it.

Meazza - same as you mate.

My strategy (dont know if it would work) -

  1. For each reading, I am going to write down a study note for myself without looking at the book on what I learnt. Clear concise language - If I can do that, that means I know the subject and I know to write about it as well.

  2. For each reading, I am going to put down what are the Keywords I should know and also note how many of this I used in #1.

  3. For each SS, I am going to note down things which are likely to be asked. There is a recent from TRH which you should read and he has a valid point there.

  4. I am going to create my own family IPS and get it reviewed (of course with changed numbers) from another L3 candidate.

  5. I am trying to buy CU bootcamp notes from someone who has attended it.

I failed band 10 and seriously dont know where I went wrong in AM. I practised the **** out of the exams, so no just not enough practise is not what is failed me. I dont know if this would work, but apart from studying this is what I am going to do anyway!

If you know your stuff, at this point ( We all cracked level 1 and 2 ) PM should not be an issue ( with the exception of the infamous ethics).

AM is the key to crack this beast. For some reason ( may be my ego), I do not believe that attending a live class adds value, unless you do not have the discipline or have a lot of committments (family with kid(s), demanding job, etc) and cant find the time to hit the books.

Unless it is the above reasons, does any one of you believe that a live class might be game changer ? If yes, which one you guys would recommend?

Cheers,

… Heard Elan will be offering Level 3 materials. Heard they used to be good when they started, that too for level 1…

The problem with Elan is their reliability wrt their timings. I read in AF from lot of L2 folks that they dont release on time :frowning:

ELan-

June 2014 CFA Level III Candidates:

We will be releasing Comprehensive Lecture Videos, Mock Exams and the Eleventh Hour Review Guide for Level III June 2014. More details including pricing, instructor info and availability schedules will be posted on the website in September.

Join us now! No Excuses… Let’s do this!

i was their lab rat buying their new L2 material. I have to say the goods are ncredibly good but the timing is often off

but as i really like their material in L1 and L2, i will most likely buy their L3 and bought finquiz july promo in case elan timing is crazy again

Elan guides are very good for both Level I & II. Their practice questions and mock exams with CFAI EOC and mock helped me pass Level I.

For level II their material i. e study notes are good. their PQ s were useful to revise concepts. their mocks came in late but i found them hard.

IF they stick to their release dates, I would recommend using Elan for level II prep. CFAI for ethics and EOC along with mock exams should get you through.

Level III , will wait and see how things pan out.

I did a live class back in Level 1 when I had huge disipline issues, just couldn’t start to study, when I sat down to study I could look at a blank wall for hours doing nothing.

Live classes do not help with this

And worse from my experience the quality can be very hit and miss, some of the instructors were quite good, but some of them just ran the Video CD and sat beside it saying this is important from time to time.

So for me give the live classes a miss, they start so late you need to have covered the material already so what’s the point.
