I am reading through the material but havent yet really put anything into my brain?
Do you guys have strategies to memorize all the material in a effective and accurate manner?

I can sympathize. People that say they are ‘done’ with a lot of the sections definitly are way beyond me. I have gone over multiple sections but I need to keep going over it and the best way I seem to learn it is to write it down. Take notes on the important stuff. Try to answer the EOC questions and theen go back and check the answers after each item set and figure out what went right and what went wrong. I find just reading it doesn’t help me. I just understand it but can’t recall any of it.
Hi. Totally understand what you’re talking about.
Yes I’ll be done very soon with my first pass, but all I mean is done with reading all the study sessions/taking notes/writing formulas the way I understand them/doing EOCs. I haven’t memorized anything yet, but that’s not my goal at this point, my goal is to just to understand the material.
We’re not robot so it’s okay not to know everything after your first reading only
So I wouldn’t worry too much, as we still have 3 months to go. When I start reviewing all the EOCs again, then I think it will be the right time to actually try to memorize.
For me, the last three months here is where it all comes together. I begin to “see” the map of content in my head as far as topics and concepts. This makes it much easier to memorize the formulas and methods. I also have a white board, and will repeat writing a concept or formula until i know it (on the white board or paper)…then challenge myself a day or so later to remember. If you start now, its easy come exam day.
Yeah, I rehearse the formulas in my head whenever I have down time. Like waiting for the bartender to get me my drink. And then by the 4th drink, I try to rehearse the formula again. If I still know it, then I feel more confident.
How do you guys plan on tackling your second pass after forming a structure of the curriculum? I’ve never done a second pass for level 1, and trying to figure out a different method than my first pass which consisted of cfai and Eoc.
So far, I’m planning on making flash cards from elan formula guide and memorizing it before beginning my second pass.
For a second pass over the materials, I use ‘whiskey’ instead of ‘beer’ and see if I can remember the concepts and formula.
Lol! What a great idea! Now I don’t feel so bad about going to a bar tonight!
concur with daily grind… I am probably going to fail *sigh*, but nonetheless will try my best
is heroin next?
I feel the same way. I covered about 70% of the curriculum, first pass, but no idea what I actually read.
Started using Elan videos now, got free access from them as a compensation for messing up my order. They force me to stay attentive and to take the time to go through a topic. Worked very well for forwards and futures, and I’ll use them for FRA as well I think. The very theoretical readings, I just hope they stick by themselves
.Write them down with your own handwriting and keep just seeing them when you are in public places - in a queue, over lunch etc… Just read them before you go to bed too - you are guaranteed of good sleep too
This helps, believe me without knowing you would remember the formulae then. Waiting till the last one month to memorize is the most inefficient way in my opinion.
never lose hope!
There’s no alternative to success than a hardwork. So stick to your stringent plan (hope you made one) and then keep pushing yourself!
Cram at least 10 hours of studying (not goofing off) into a single day (i.e. weekend) and take some Huperzine A before you go to bed.
