umm… i guess the probability of getting zero defaults and the probability of getting 1 default are mutually exclusive events… otherwise we would have to subtract the product of their probabilities from the sum of their probabilities… can you guys explain why these events are mutually exclusive…
They’re mutually exclusive because if exactly zero bonds default then exactly one bond does not default, and if exactly one bond defaults then exactly zero bonds do not default.
