BB10 flopped - only got half the sales they wanted. Time to sell themselves to Microsoft or something…
When I was in an AT&T store last month I asked how sales of the new phones were going and what people thought of them. The salesperson told me that people who have come in generally play with it and like it, but wanted to wait and see about more adoption, apps, stuff like that before buying one. I think it looks pretty cool but I’m not in the market for a new phone.
We should bring back that RIMM thread in the Investments forum. This has taken a while to play out, but it’s still dying a slow death…more rapidly as of today.
Yeah, they waited too long. Apple and Android have already reached critical mass. Users and developers are comfortable with those two platforms. At 5% smartphone penetration, there’s still a lot of room for unfamiliar users to choose new things. At 65% penetration, most of the potential users already have a system of preference.
I do actually think that MS can get some benefit by buying BlackBerry, since both have strong (although increasingly challenged) footholds in the business user space. If they could make a phone that integrates better with work applications, people would like that.
This kind of thread belongs in the Investments forum Ohai.
MSFT and NOK have a collaboration - with some Microsoft guy heading Nokia.
Not that MSFT couldn’t totally doublecross NOK and team up with blackberry.
