Blatant CFAI Standards violation

Yah, I’ll give her credit for putting the powerpoint together. It’s a little unpolished (simple things like should have set the white background to clear on the Citi Logo, 1st slide). The points she makes are also clear and concise, they flow well, and for an undergraduate it shows a pretty decent grasp of basic business communication, acumen and what’s expected in the environment. She also seems to understand what the job is, which for an undergraduate, isn’t a given. Language is a bit choppy, but she’s a non-native, so whatever. On the negative side, blatant things like Tier 1 Level II CFA Candidate really makes me question how much BS has been sprinkled throughout and the overall validity of her claims. Then again, assuming that she has passed LI and she’s still an undergrad, I’d give her major points for initiative. Focusing on the big picture, I hope she gets the job, she seems to know what’s going on, not to mention, BSing is part of the IB job description, so maybe she should be getting extra points and not deductions. Anyhow, I hope CFAi doesn’t nail her on this, especially since she can’t help her exposure to China’s cultural bias towards cheating

No. 1 teir for CFA level 2?? i dont even know what that would imply…and apparently citi does not look for grammar either

She is from Beijing, she stole the presentation.

Well, it says that she has been invited for an interview. So it must have worked…

Until the CFAI bans her for 1 year, I wonder if that makes it on her presentation?

she’s Chinese yet has a 3.92 gpa in the Beijing language. Sweeeet!

This is pure horse $hit. What the hell is Tier 1 CFA? Raised $200 for charity, give me a break! The only thing she got going on is her apparent ability to spin sell a completely and utterly unimpressive profile, and it seems that’s good enough. No hating, just sayin.

and nowhere in the presentation does it describe why she and citi are a great fit meaning there are JPM, MS, G, UBS, RBS, DB, WF, BoA and countless other presentations in people’s ‘Deleted Item’s’ folder.

NYCGorilla Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > she’s Chinese yet has a 3.92 gpa in the Beijing > language. Sweeeet! 3.92 gpa at Beijing Language and Culture University By the same token, someone with straight As at Texas A&M has a 4.0 gpa in Texas Agriculture?

the funny thing about the presentation is, of her 9 points why she wants to be an IB analyst, she doesn’t mention money. i know its taboo, but i also know its BS to say you want to get into IB cause you love finance. lets face it, you want to get into IB cause it pays well. she needs to spin that. I"m pretty sure she is ugly too. i have a thing against these types of women…

So you don’t think most of IB is BS?

Love the part about being “detail oriented” ( I am good at finding mistakes in articles, …). She is about to graduate and can’t write English, this is depressing.

god… if i were a hiring manager, i would dump this in the trash bin immediately then again i’m not one, but how can anybody so dumb fall for this? maybe they wanted to invite for an interview to see if she MIGHT be good-looking; just saying… :x

overall, it’s not too horrendous. She gives decent reasons why IB. But like you guys mentioned, it’s nothing specific to Citi, and the Tier 1 CFA is a huge WTF. I would dismiss it immediately.

  • for the creativity and effort. - for grammatical errors and major violation of CFA Ethics.

WHOA!..this person raised $200 dollars for charity! thats nearly as much as the government investment in chrysler is worth!
