Bloomberg Question

Is there a way to see the sector weightings of the S&P 500 over time on Bloomberg?

Try on the Bloomberg: Help Help

Help! I need someone. Help! Not just anyone.

You can get the member level data of Bloomberg for the S&P as of any date. This will give you a list of every stock that was in the index as of a certain date. Download this list into excel, then use a BDP formula to return the sector of each stock. Then you can use a sumif formula to get the sector weights. Kind of a pain, but it works. There may be an easier way so asking a rep using Help Help could be helpful.

Pull up SPXL1 Index - GWGT - Then go to edit and change the date . This will give you the GICS weighting . If you need a more detail sector weighting use SPX Index instead .
