Body image issues... for MEN

I hate it when my underwear gets sweaty…

…aaaand scene.

What kind of underwear do you wear??

only DB’s walk shirtless in NYC or any other metro area for that matter…

shirtless is more of a westcoast thing i guess?

Nana Hachiko suspiciously grasps American idiom for someone who claims to be from Japan.

I’ve never done this because I’m not in NYC often, but I would if afforded the opportunity. Does this make me a DB by extension?

Japan has six years of compulsory English language in primary and secondary school. Ironically, no one you would meet in day-to-day life can actually speak the language. But she might be an outlier, especially if she studied in college.

One thing about Japan that I found hilarious is that you can speak English to people and they won’t understand you, but if you add random vowels to English words, there’s a pretty good chance they will understand. Trying to ask the taxi driver to take a right? Forget it. Say the Japanese word, “migi” – probably won’t work. But say “Righto” and you’re golden.

Hollywood films and American TV shows.

The compulsory english is a joke, honestly, the teachers can’t speak it well, and they only really start forming english sentences in highschool so i’d say that’s why most Japanese people do not speak very well English - EXCEPT for those who studied in english schools (or cram schools) or international schools.

Also, you may not come across those people who speak really well English in Japan (there are not too many of us, but we exist!), mostly because people who work in customer service are not highly educated.

in any case, the “westernized” japanese all hang together and we are a niche group in japan.

ps* i agree on the migi vs righto thing, many white people said the same thing!

Yes I heard that from my Japanese friends, the forced English language instruction is not good and they had to study harder elsewhere. Fortunately Japanese people are extremely helpful and polite so I managed to get by with about 12 words of Japanese.

I met with tons of investment bankers and investors, all of whom spoke perfect English, and many of them were educated in the states or the UK. But forget about it at street level, you’re on your own in a restaurant or taxi situation lol.

I still think Japan is the best country I’ve been to (about 40) and by far the best I have lived in (4 including the US) but it is pretty goofy sometimes. I’d move to Tokyo if I spoke Japanese and the economic outlook were better (best city ever).

I do love Japan and i think it is the best country in the world in terms of diversity of things to do, weather, climate, natural resources, etc…

but the economy sucks and there’s nothing we can do about it. other than that, i still think it’s a great place to travel to, for tourists.

130 million people crammed into an area smaller than the size California. No thank you. The country is beautiful and the people are nice but would much rather live somewhere else. Japan is also dangerous (earthquakes) and super expensive to live in.

I don’t think I could hack it living in Japan especially if I was married to a local.

It’s not as bad as you think.

And of course, you should learn the lanuage if you do decide to live there but learning japanese is EASY!

Don’t forget japn is a huge country there are many cities from north to south, not necessarily tokyo!

I do feel like guys have been getting hotter.
