Bonus prorated

I started my current job in May in ER. Is the year end bonus prorated ?

No.

Completely depends on the company. I got a prorated bonus the year I started. My friend got nothing at his company because he “missed the bonus cycle”.

Yeah, that was a bad year. They might have just screwed him.

are you a lateral from another FO role at another bank, if so you’re prob gonna get full year. if not you’re prob going to be prorated… other situations where you’d get full year are if you’re an internal transfer from another group in which case depending on your start date you could be all in the ER pool or a % from ER and a % from your former group.

Pro-rated for sure. If they gave him 0, it was just an excuse to give him nothing.

My guess is that if you don’t know, the answer is probably not, but keep your fingers crossed. In the future, when you are negotiating salary, you should ask where are you in the company’s bonus cycle when you are looking to join a new company.

I checked with HR. It’s prorated. thanks.

Why didn’t you just check with HR in the first place? or did you just want to bring up the fact you work in equity research?
