Books to read on CFA besides Curriculum/3rd-party material

So I’m taking Level I this coming December (2015), and I’m going to start studying in May.

In the meantime, I’m looking for a book to read that will help me stay sharp.

Now, I know the best thing for learning/staying sharp is ultimately the cirriculum/3rd-party study materials, but until then I’m really looking for a book to help me get a little bit more familiar with the material and the exam in general. I did just finish “CFA Confidential” by Greg Campion and really enjoyed the read.

Any and all reccomendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you looking for leisurely reading or reading to prepare you for the CFA exam?

If you could supply one of each that would be great, but if I have to pick, probably something that will prepare me more rather than leisurely reading. Want something that will give me practical prep.

Leisurely: More Money Than God The Big Short The Rise and Fall of Long Term Capital Management A Random Walk Down Wallstreet

Non-Leisure: CFAI Level 1 Curriculum, Volume 1-6

May for december exam is way too early dude. Start now for june exam, or start in july for december’s.

it is never too early

That depends. If he goes balls out starting in May, he might run out of juice right when he needs it most.

+1 on both of these

If you have the time to study earlier, do it. Stretched times are bad enemies. Good luck.
