books to read...

Any suggestions? They dont have to be finance related as I am not looking to read a textbook but would like an interesting story. Thanks in advance.

The Master and Margarita. Alternatively, check out some of these reading lists: http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?1,860093,860220 http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?1,791020,826894 http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?1,65294,65294

SSS, You just made me really crave a fresh Margherita pizza per that word above. Thanks.

For non-finance books - I have always loved Stephene Covey books, especially “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” and the sequel “The Eighth Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness”.

Yeah - Seven Habits is a good one - one of the best. I haven’t read that in years.

The greatest salesmen in the world - Og Mandino.

I also find these books useful: The Art of War (Sun Tzu) very good on strategy. The Prince (Niccollo Machiavelli) on Power.

ANGELS & DEMONS

After a post here, I went on iTunes and got an audiobook of “The Ascent of Money” and have been enjoying it. I think the details would sink in better if I actually had the text, but audiobook format isn’t bad to get the general drift, which is useful.

On Human Bondage Trinity Red Badge of Courage Anthem Animal Farm

It was petty good, but was very basic. I thought it was funny the way they described LTCM and Merton and Scholes. They framed the BS model as some mystical math equation that only they could understand and use to price options.

Good books I have read in the past year (CFAI stuff not withstanding, of course) A Confederacy of Dunces-Toole The Right Stuff-Wolfe The World Without Us-Weisman The Road-McCarthy Slash-Slash (my favorite by far!) The Black Swan-Taleb

The Dip Quick easy read - I like it though.

The Wrecker (Robert Louis Stevenson) - captivating mystery story. Has a side story about on stock market/options speculation. Watchers (Dean Koontz) - mysticism novel The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas) - ageless classic The Wild Ass’s Skin (Honoré de Balzac) - another ageless classic
