I must have passed by the skin of my teeth. Level 2: Pass The table below illustrates your subject matter strengths and weaknesses. The three columns on the right are marked with asterisks to indicate your performance on each question or topic area. Item Set Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Derivatives 36 - * - - Economics 18 - * - - Equity Analysis 72 - * - - Ethical & Professional Stnds. 36 - * - - Financial Statement Analysis 108 - * - - Fixed Income Analysis 36 - * - - General Portfolio Management 18 * - - - Quantitative Analysis 36 - * - The maximum score this person could have scored would have been 65% and there were a couple who were flying close to the 65% mark. Remember this was the same exam as in the schweser Book 7 which i thought was fairly easy and def easier than our exam with less subjective questions…
wow, thats crazy! but nice is the score from somebody you know or where u got this from?!
T-Schulz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > wow, thats crazy! but nice > > is the score from somebody you know or where u got > this from?! it’s from this forum. there are a few similar passes, however, 07 was def a higher MPS from what i have seen - which made no sense as it was a harder test (i sat for 07)
hmmm, sounds curious… but in my opinion, I think there is a good chance, that the mps is generally lower or arounf 65%. especially since I heard CFAI is changing the format to only 3 answers… so the average score of all candidates should go up, since people who dont have any clue will score better(or just the average score for hard questions). so therefore, i think the mps needs to be well below 70%, otherwise the passing rate would shoot up next year or the questions need to be harder.
it was a birthday present from CFAI:)… pretty neat. though I calculated the highest possible mark of 66.6%
i think the highest possible score is even lower… consider that when there are only 6 questions for a topic, your hishest score is only 66,6% to be in that 50-70% bracket
it looks like it is level I, unless they changed topics allocations significantly, 1 vignette on Portfolio Management. and 6 n FSA? If it is Level II, then it is closer to 65.8%

wasn’t a portion of the 2006 exam non-vignette questions?
The maximum they could have scored is 80/120 or 66.67%. Divide each of the numbers by 3 (to get the no of questions in each section) then multiply each by 0.7 (except pm by 0.5). Remember the middle band includes 70% and the lower band includes 50%. Therefore his maximum is 8 4 16 8 25 8 3 8 Total 80. The thing to take from that is that you DONT need 70% in ethics (for those who still go on about it). Their minimum is 47.5% so MPS is somewhere between the 2. I agree that he must have been eitehr very near the top in some of his sections or a very margingal pass.

Nope - their max is 65% - you can’t score bang on 70 for the sections, it’s either below or over i.e for quants they can only score 66.67% and the same for all the 36 mark questions etc - Derivatives 36 - * - - Economics 18 - * - - Equity Analysis 72 - * - - Ethical & Professional Stnds. 36 - * - - Financial Statement Analysis 108 - * - - Fixed Income Analysis 36 - * - - General Portfolio Management 18 * - - - Quantitative Analysis 36 - * -
We found a score for 2007 which was a score of AT LEAST 65% and failed. My guess is the score will be around 65/67%.

Are we really debating some random individual’s test score? Really?
Ehhh yes
Seb, this thread is giving me and other people false hope.

It is the same on the 18 mark and the 72 mark sections but slightly higher on FSA where they can get 25/36 = 69.44%. On PM they can get 50% (hence my original point about the bands). The most they could score is: Derivatives 36 marks or 12 questions. 8 correct = 66.67% Economics 18 marks or 6 questions. 4 correct = 66.67% Equity Analysis 72 marks or 24 questions. 16 correct = 66.67% Ethical & Professional Stnds 36 marks or 12 questions. 8 correct = 66.67% Financial Statement Analysis 018 marks or 36 questions. 25 correct = 69.44% Fixed Income Analysis 36 marks or 12 questions. 8 correct = 66.67% General Portfolio Management 18 marks or 6 questions. 3 correct = 50.00% Quantitative Analysis 36 marks or 12 questions. 8 correct = 66.67% Total correct = 8+4+16+8+25+8+3+8 = 80. 80/120 = 66.67% which bit of the above do you disagree with?
I think anyway a 66.67% as a mps is a good guess… even if it is 1-2% ± But do you guys also try to guess your score?! I personally took the approach to estimate (1) my number of Q’s i did know, (2) number of Q where I was confident (3) number of Q where I almost only guessed “unfortunately” I did not count my Q’s… okay, anyway counting would maybe anyway be stupid to waste your time on but I had enough time left… So I think, I had around (1) 80 (2) 20 (3) 20 so, what do you think is the probability for each? I estimated two scenarios: (1) 85% or 80% --> still kind of low for knowing, but anyway there are many traps, so you can never be 100% sure (2) 60% or 50% --> When can say two are wrong and decided between two, I think the prob should be a above 50% since on average u pick the better between the two (3) 33% or 25% --> normally you are always able to eliminate 1 answer since when you understand the curriculum, than you can identify at least 1 trap or see that e.g. two answers say the same and eliminate them… so 33% good case and 25% bad case for my case this would mean a score in good case of 72.17% or bad case 65.83% I am not sure how useful this approach is… what do you think? of course I know there are many uncertainties, but I think this is better than only trying to find out on this forum how much Q’s you got wrong… or arguing if the mps is 66% or 67%
finally it all depends on how good you scored and not how high or low the mps is

Redraider agree that the higher numbers are teh maximum he could have got so maximum total 80. What are your lower scores in the above? He could have scored lower than that in each topic and still got the bands he did.
