Anybody who has the Schweser question bank CD version…I was wondering. Let’s say you’ve installed the Qbank on Computer 1, and have been taking the tests etc on the same comp. All the data is thus stored on the comp - tracking no. of questions taken, scores etc. Now if I install the Qbank on Computer 2 - obviously it won’t be updated, because its just going to be a fresh Qbank showing that none of the questions have been completed…and hence won’t show the scores etc details… Is there a way to synchronize the two?
I do this all the time, sync between work and home computer. Go this this folder (C:\Program Files\Schweser2008\Level2\data_L2\schweser_sync_test) in computer 1, and copy the 6 files { tests.MYI, tests.MYD, test_answer.MYI, test_answer.MYD, completed_nodes.MYI, completed_nodes.MYD }. I usually just zip them and email to myself. On Computer 2, unzip the files back to the directory above. Note you need to close Schweser Pro to do this.
hey monki…thanks… but I can’t seem to find the file with that name. my data_12 folder just has one database file called “schweser” there is however a “sync” folder- but the file names you mentioned aren’t there …There are however these files: sync_all_functions.php, sync_file_functions.php U think this’ll work?!
Do exactly as monki says and you should be good… I have those files too at C:\Users\dinesh\Desktop\schweser_sync_test.
can’t find the files fellows…tried doing a search of sync_test on my comp it came up blank!
Then you need to have the pirated version too…
lol pirated version … is that why ??
No Mumu has the correct version and we have the pirated version!
You guys grew up with this stuff. Geez when I was a kid they hadn’t even invented te bicycle not to mention the computer. Not to mention that it was always snowing when I walked too school. Anyway, those php files aren’t going to work as that’s almost certainly database scripts. But if you want to find where your computer is storing something, look for new files, files with changed sizes, and known database file types (I always associate php with MySql, though I’m not sure why).
C:\Program Files\Schweser2008l2\Level2\data_L2\schweser_sync_test if you did next to all the options while installing, you would haven ended up withe the above location. go to the schweser pro icon and mouse right click and select properties(the lasst option in the drop down) and copy the target location and tryto navigate to that path (do not copy the last *.exe part) then one folder down is data and one more would be the sync folder where you will find the files mentioned above
nope…I get all the way down to data_L2 folder, but as i mentioned above, the only file in it is a database file called schweser… sigghhh
so…seems like there is no way to do this… I feel like the idiots at schweser ought to take a CITA (chartered IT Analyst) …provided by some of our in-house IT experts *HINT HINT*… Response from schweser to my question: Munira Thank you for your email. Currently there is not a way to synchronize the 2 installs of SchweserPro QBank. The only version that currently allows that, is the Online version of QBank. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Regards Steve ----------------------------------------------------- Online & Tech Support Lead what good is all this stupid mumbo jumbo about how efficient the damn qbank is…if they haven’t figured out a simple way to synchronize the two!!! i mean how did the pirated version manage to throw in the sync file!!!\ so pissed right now…
Mumu - just take a deep breadth. I’ll send you the sync files from my machine. A good way to boost your score to 89% … lol kidding.
jsut a thought…monki & dinesh: are thse a hidden files? If so, mumu, you’d want to setup your folder settings to display all filetypes (Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> )
been there…done that… siighhh…
