Can any one else get access to your results?

I’m level 2 retaker. My boss seems never bored of asking me when the results are out. Now last year, I failed the exam and was in band 10, my biggest fear is this year I have to face the same scenario. I feel I want to tell my boss that I passed even if I don’t just to get him off my back. Is there anyway he can access my results? I know this is bad but remembering how bad last year it felt or the pathetic look on his face… By the way, my work doesn’t require a CFA designation and I don’t know anyone at my work who is doing it. My boss barely knows what it stands for or how hard it is. Any thoughts?

why stop there? why not just call yourself a cfa?

I guess the reality is, people tend to report good news more often than bad news. So when bad news are reported, people tend to make a bigger deal out of it. I was in a similar boat earlier when I tried to explain to a friend in IT what the CFA curriculum is about and how the exams are like. His respond was “so it’s only 120 MC questions of 3 choices that you have 6 hours to do and you have a whole month to study, how hard can it be?” Needless to say, I was pretty speechless after I heard what he said. I believe the way the CFA exams are structured are deceptively simple enough that the general public do not see the breadth and depth the exams comprise of. I guess one way to handle this kind of situation is to think of a simple problem that the public could understand but in actuality, it’s non-intuitive and the materials from the CFA curriculum could help solve. (You may or may not want to do this to your Boss, of course.)

Montrealist, although its not a good idea to show what somebody actually is not…but yeah this world becomes too callous sometimes…specially with such kind of ruthless bosses around :-). Just to let you know, I don’t think there is any way to access result from CFAI until somebody has login credentials of the person. So you can first hope to pass the test, next if remained unlucky then keep your login details only with you (don’t share it with even your shadow), and lastly its not a rocket science to show what you want on the downloaded HTML result. So try to remain hopeful for first, prepared for second and keep third as reserve option only for ruthless bossess and use that option only to save your bread-butter (since it is unethical too).

well maybe, if your boss is an IT savvy or your IT department consists of nosy people. Just lie that you pass (if you do fail, let’s wish for the best) and act as if the exam is nothing to be excited about. They don’t even know what it is anyway.

Thanks guys for your input. I guess I was having a panic attack on Sunday. I hope I’ll pass and wish you the same. In case I fail, I really hope I don’t see band 10 again!

I plan on telling everyone I passed whether or not I did. People know I’m a retaker and they CAN"T stop bugging me about the exam. I was even pretty lowkey about the whole thing. It really pisses me off when people ask me about when I get the results when it’s none of their business.

I don’t even told my parents and brother I was appearing CFA untill I passed. Its your game no need to tell anything anybody except your fellow CFA buddies

mos of the people r jealous…and r happy if sum1 does not pass the exam.

Why has no one mentioned that this breaks CFA regulation? you can’t tell your boss that you passed if you didn’t, just like you cant go into an interview and say you passed if you didn’t… I swear… I don’t know what the world is coming to…
