Hi,
I wanted to ask whether CFA level 2 be completed in 6 months time?
(I am planning on to write CFA leve1 in Dec2015 and level 2 in June’16.)

I sure hope so.
Definitely, I did it as have many others. The problem is that you have to wait till almost Feb to get your L1 test results so you can’t get CFAI materials until early Feb. So, that really gives you 4 months rather than 6. It’s most certainly doable you just don’t have any time to waste and can’t talke many study-free days between Feb and June.
hey nikhil
That’s exactly what I’m about to find out. Regardless if I pass or not I would say that L2 after L1 Dec is def doable. After L1, if you think you have decent shot of passing, you should consider studying immeditaley. I waited until Jan 3rd. Since then I’ve studied prob 90 hours a month. I’ve gone through the material twice (wiley) and just now finished all the CFAI EOCs. I’m behind on mock exams as I still need to review the EOCs. I think I have an ok at passing but it’ll be a challenge. Make no mistake in some ways Level 1 was more difficult. Good luck
Agree with you. In some ways L1 is more difficult that L2. The famous dragon analogy that everyone posts is nonsense (at least as a comparison for L1 to L2). That was created by someone who felt special after they finished level 3 and wanted to intimidate those just starting on L1.
Probably created by Greenman, he is the king of negativity and trying to convince L1ers that they’re not as smart as he is (even though he failed multiple levels himself).
The bolded statement isn’t true (at least as of this past December (not trying to be rude)). I sat for L1 the first time Dec 6th 2014 and ordered my L2 books on December 12th 2014 (I have recently looked at the receipt to confirm it). I called the Institute and told them I just sat for L1, was awaiting my results, and wanted a hard copy of Level 2. They happily took my credit card and said they hope L1 went well. I paid $150 + $20 shipping for continental US delivery (I broke it down since some people claimed [in other threads] there was an “extra” charge for buying in advance).
Now, if only I decided to start really studying before the last week of February… and if I continued at that pace all through April…life and other pursuits come up, though.
yes, it can be done!
This ^
I also ordered the books almost immediately after sitting the L1 exam and had them posted to the UK before I had received my results.
Hey all,
Thank you for the advice. However, I just realised I will be havinh only 4 months to prepare for, considering May for revision.
So again my question, is it possible to complete it in 4 months time?
Thanks!!

Nikhil,
You need to stop worrying about L2 completely. Like, just forget it even exists. Register for L1 and focus on passing that. Just assuming you’ll be in the position to take L2 in June 2016 is kind of reckless. Level 1 is a hard exam.

lol.
OP, just focus on passing the L1 exam first. Baby steps.
yes it’s possible. Few of my friends wrote L1 in dec and L2 in june while working as IB analyst and passed.
Dude, you haven’t passed Level 1; focus on that. We’re focusing on passing level 2 and you’re wasting our time by having us read your nonsense on this board.
Yes, you can pass. One of my friends got out of a coma the day before the exam and passed. You have to be ready to study all night though.
Really? You haven’t passed level 1 yet and then you post this question in level II forum wasting everyone’s time?
Focus first on L1. I think by the time you give L1 you would start thinking about L3. LOL.
Take each step at a time. L1 is the foundation and will certainly help in L2 if you have do well (study hard) in L1. Regarding your question, I have seen people passing the L2 immediately after they pass L1 in Dec. Also, I know many people who have not cleared L2 in atleast 2 attempts. It’s all about hard work and your ability to crack exam. There is no guarantee based on timing (more times doesnt mean you would definitely pass!). Dedication and sincerity is more important.
Really? You haven’t passed level 1 yet and then you post this question in level II forum wasting everyone’s time?
Even more curious is posting it in L2, should be asking people that already passed…
I can guarantee you that it’s possible in as little as 3 months while working full time, but you have to be willing to sacrifice all free time, and I literally mean all of it.

I get your desire to plan/strategize ahead. I was the same. I think ppl are trying to say not to underestimate L1. With that being said, I had the full intention of starting to prep for L2 after a short break for the hoildays. Yes Jan-May is enough time for L2 regardless if I pass or not. Study your ass off for L1, assume you passed then start with equity L2
Never worry about things that havent happened as it doesnt help your current situation.
