On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being ridiculously easy and 10 being very very hard, where would you put: THE REAL THING: CFAI Sample Exams: CFAI Mock Exams: Schweser Exams: (May be tough to measure but why not) The high difficulty level QBank questions: Retakers would probably provide best input. I’d ask in Level III input, but they’re all too busy thinking about essays or something like that.
REAL THING: 9 CFAI Samples: 8 (individual samples range 6-9) CFAI Mock: 8 Schweser: 7 Q-Bank: 5

Time Constraint (Yes/No)?
I haven’t taken the samples or the mock this year, but I have always thought that Schweser practice exams (book 6) was as hard or harder than the real thing (L1 and L2 last year). Schweser vignettes kill me. It’s like I’m in the coffin and someone’s hammering the nails in… Even the hardest Qbank questions get me. The real thing is much more straight forward. Quant – I don’t remember time being an issue last year.
Time wasn’t an issue in last year’s exam. What I believe people got problems with were the concept problems. It’s either you got it right, you picked the trap answer (and you didn’t know) or you just guess (and you guessed wrong). Schweser Book 6 is pretty close to the real exam, except that it is a bit biased towards quantitative type questions.
Dit… I mean Quant, I have found time to be anything but a constraint for the Level II format, been finishing in like just over 2 hours. Of course it helps push the time along when I have to guess for 10 of the last 12 q’s of the PM exam, but for some context, I was barely finishing the Schweser practice exams in 3 hours for Level I due to all of the calculations. Totally opposite experience here.

The thing that makes Schweser hard is that the questions are often poorly worded. The actual exam is much more precise, but they also do a very good job tricking you and luring you to the wrong answers.
mcleod, how were you doing on mocks/samples/schwesers? and how did you do on the real thing?
