Can you chew gum / bring water?

nervous habits i have i.e. chewing gum during mock exams… is this allowed on exam day?

Don’t count on it. Quoting (and checking it out for myself): “The following items must be kept on your desk: Exam admission ticket Current government-issued photo identification Approved calculator(s), including calculator case(s) Writing instruments (pencils for Levels I and II, pens and pencils for Level III)” “The following items may be kept on your desk, if needed: Pencil sharpeners (no knives) and erasers Calculator batteries (and screwdriver for battery replacement) Eyeglasses Earplugs Wristwatches (analog and digital) are acceptable” (no alarm) “The following items are permitted in the testing room but must remain in your pockets or under your chair when not in use: Wallet (money purse) Medicine, tissues, and other necessary medical or personal items” I’d think it is doubtful if you were allowed to count the water bottle as “other necessary medical or personal items” - but at the same time I can imagine there is someone out there for whom it is. (For instance if you need to take some medication, a pill for instance, and can’t swallow it without taking a sip of water…)

three hours no water?

^^^^What would Bear Grylls do…

Am planning to carry some halls lozenges. Technically, its for a medical purpose

Yeah- halls are the bomb for keeping you awake and alert. Menthol plus sugar- can’t beat that!

Lozenges were allowed when I took the exam. I had a persisent cough. Just be quiet about the wrappers. smileyface Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Am planning to carry some halls lozenges. > Technically, its for a medical purpose

they should have some H2O in the room, but no water bottles allowed. no cups at your desk!!

still no one has answered the ‘gum’ question?

some guy last year was walking around like he owned the place, brought a cup of water and sat down and spilled it all over his table.

I’m certain gum is not allowed – for that matter no food of any kind is permitted in the hall. Logically, can you imagine the guy next to you chewing? pasaré Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > still no one has answered the ‘gum’ question?

The Halls idea is great! Never thought about that…

If you’re not sure, you can always present them to one of the proctors in your section and ask if they’re okay. You’ll be seated long before exam time, and during that waiting period, they walk around and ask people to remove things of their desks that aren’t allowed. The proctors were vigilant, but not unreasonable. Whatever you do, don’t even THINK of bringing a cellphone or any unapproved electronic device into the hall – even if it is turned off.

you can chew gum.
