Cass University in London?

Has anyone done their graduate studies (Msc. Finance programs) at Cass? Anyone heard of the school or have an opinion about it? Cheers, Bison

My gf did MSC Investment Management there and of course I had to do a lot of her work for her. I thought the material was quite strong and some of the guest lecturers she had were interesting. It’s not as well known as say LSE but if I had decided to do a masters course when I graduated and was offered a place at Cass I certainly would have accepted. I also have a friend from Uni who went to Cass after we had graduated and did the same course as my gf (but 2 years before she did her course). He said he really liked the courses and the lecturers. My gf did however had some problems with a couple of modules. One module was quite intensive and the lecturer was apparently useless (it was some advanced VBA course). However, a lot of the students complained and they all seemed to do well in the end. I hope that helps a little.

I’m also planning to apply to Cass, I’ve read on many forums that they have very good network. But the real question is, how much do they help in getting a job, and do people get job in London easily after graduating from Cass?

The careers department in Cass is very good. The teaching staff are generally excellent too. If you’ve looked at their programmes in detail then you’ll know they offer a far broader range of finance based masters than say LSE or Oxbridge. I don’t think there’s anywhere in Europe that offer better specialist masters in finance/quants than Cass. The fees are very high, but I think it can definitely be a good investment depending on your background and what you want to do with your career. If you want to reduce the opportunity cost of studying there, they offer part-time masters which you can work around a full-time job.

Thanks Kwonyboy and Carson. Best of luck in your app d0pa! Which program are you applying to?

^ I’m thinking of MSc in Investment Management or Quantitative Finance & Trading. I want to do Msc in Investment Management but my background is in Engineering and I’m working as Quant, so I think it’ll be helpful to secure a job in Quant fin & trading. My biggest fear is return to India with that much debt, the conversion rate will just kill me. So my focus is totally on getting a job there, then working for some 5-6 years there, saving something, and going for top 10 MBA after that. Which program you are targeting?

Msc in quant finance or Msc in investment management. I hope to speak to alumni about whether the program is known outside of London, as I am from Canada and hope to move back here afterwards.
