CFA and CIPM

This is the first time i am writing to AF. Just learnt about AF last month and read various messages. Realized how valuable it can be for candidates and should be known earlier… This year was my second try to L3 like most of others, it didn’t work out for me. Obiously i have excuse for both years. Last year bought house right before the test and this year first baby. Eventhough my wife supported me a lot but didn’t workout. My wife giving me full support to finish it and I am going to do it this time. I can see this forum will help me to make it happen. Was wondering is any one pursuing CFA and CIPM simultaneously? I worked in Operation few years and last year joined Performance Measurement team. CIPM materials seems like a small subset of L3 materials. I am planning to do it this october and then end of Nov/dec will start studying for CFA. Anyone pursuing similar strategy or completed both and any thoughts to share? thx

I did level 1 of CIPM last fall between L2 and L3 of CFA. It was pretty easy, and about 25% of the exam was word for word the same material as study session 18 of L3, the stuff about GIPS and micro and macro performance attribution have the same source material, so that’ll save you some time. Also Ethics is the same, so if you’re on L3 of CFA you’ve already covered a good 40% of the L1 CIPM exam. I haven’t sat for L2 CIPM, but I hear it’s quite a bit harder…I’m sure not anything near a CFA exam though.

Thanks HT2010. Sounds good to me. i need some positive news and CIPM might do it. Hope you will complete your CIPM Expert exam soon.
