CFA designation with tax experience???

I am a senior tax analyst working in a corporate tax department. I have a CPA license. I’d like to try something new in my career. I have a strong interest in finance/investment. I am thinking about taking CFA exam as a starting point. However, I don’t have any investment and asset management related experince, and therefore, I would not meet the work experience requirement for getting CFA designation. In my situation, should I take the exam first?

yes, it appears with level I/II behind you, the doors seem to open a little wider.
