Hi…I am new to CFA…I have a doubt regarding the CFA ebook and the fees associated with it…Is the CFA ebook compulsory? I mean if you wrote the cfa exam once before and failed and you are attempting it again…do you have to purchase the cfa ebook again the next time you register? the reason I am asking this is because i saw that the cfa fees is split into three components …one time registration fee…exam fee and ebook fees…the ebook is shown as costing $150…if you choose the printed book instead of the ebook…does it mean that you have to pay an additional $150 + shipping over and above the existing fee or does it mean that you forgo the ebook and you just have to pay the shipping fees? how does it work? personally i prefer printed material…so how much would i have to pay then?
you don’t need it for the exam, it is possible to pass without ever downloading it.
the site forces you to pay for it. some ppl have claimed to be able to uncheck the option (using wrong ccard info, then going back), probably better to write cfai an email and ask…
the ebooks ‘expire’ after 5 years, so the hardcopy texts are a better option if you want to keep something for reference.
and yes, you must pay every year.
If you take L1 in June, don’t pass, and then re-take it in December of the same year, you do not have to pay the $150 again for the same set of ebooks.
thanks for the replies…what about the printed curriculum…does one have to pay an additional $150 + shipping for the printed material or can you choose between the ebook and the printed material…say…if i don’t want the ebook…can i just pay for the printed material ?
You can just buy the printed materials without registering for an exam or buying the ebook (that might not be what you’re asking, not sure)
