I am waiting on level 3 exam results and considering registering for FRM part 1, just wondering how successfull people are with both CFA and FRM designations?
None of the people that I know that hold the FRM designation have managed to find a job in risk management. . None of the people that I know that work in financial risk management hold the FRM designation. If you are hoping that the FRM designation might lead to some kind of job, you are likely to be disappointed.
thanks for your input, seems more relevant since you have both of these designations. what certification do you suggest that complements CFA and is likely to brighten the job prospects?
CFA + CPA is a pretty great combo, because they are both very broad well-known designations that are recognized and respected in any branch of finance.
Designations like FRM and CAIA are very niche designations that are only relevant among a very narrow slice of jobs.
I was thinking about CPA then I thought may be its not so relevant to finance and more focused on auditing type stuff, going to search more about it… nice of you to suggest
but lets be honest here, but if you already got an MBA and a CFA and you’re still not where you want to be, another designation isn’t going to help a whole lot. Better to focus your time on meeting people and fixing other aspects of your profile.
In general, yes, but forget about prepping for the battle - just start fighting.
Take a real measure of what you do well and what you don’t do well, what are realistic outcomes, and how you can better get yourself out there.
It’s hard to face reality sometimes, but you have to or it will end you. Make a new plan and stay optimistic. Don’t waste your time on multi year certifications when year by year you grow stale. Even if you get CMA or CPA, you still need to earn your hours and it doesn’t sound like you’re that young. 30 something CPA MBA CFA with no real accounting experience? What does that tell the recruiter/employer? Alphabet soup. Sorry bro.
