Just wondering if anyone that has taken the CFA L2 exam and subsequently took L1 of the CAIA exam failed the CAIA exam??
I bet there’s some people in that category. Will they admit it? Probably not. CAIA 1 is pretty damn easy compared to CFA 1. So don’t worry about it too much. I think i studied 3-4 weeks for it and half the time i was fighting with the books. As for CAIA 2, put on your seatbelt because the essays and the MC will take you for a ride…
i’m taking CAIA 2 in September…Jarvey what’s MC??
MC = multiple choice It was pretty overwhelming for the March exam. Some of the MC will be blocks of 4-6 questions on the same topic. So your mind will start to play tricks with you if you start messing up the first few questions. If you have any more questions, post a thread next door and i’ll check it out…
How much is the CAIA L1?
real expensive. to join the program = 400 early/late registration = 900/1000 books: schweser or uppermark = 350ish level 1 = 125ish level 2 = 330ish
the only good part is that retakes are $350 and 6 months later. another bad part is that i think level 2 they’re changing one of the curriculum books every exam period. that means: 1) resale of your schweser/uppermark will be hard 2) if you retake, you’ll have to get a new set of schweser/uppermark or buy the new book for 125ish.
Thats for the answers all. Yeah I thought the program was quite expensive (got reimbursed though). I’m sticking to the CAIA book vs Schweser though… I hear its a good read
Lucky. I paid on my own. Glad to have the charter though. It’s not that marketable, but it’s ok. It might be later. It was a great experience and i really like the material from top to bottom.
Jarvey did you use Schweser for CAIA level 2? Did you pass the first time?
Yeah… 50+ years ago the CFA charter wasn’t that marketable either… It takes time to build prestige, by then the pass rate will be 15% LOL
why not FRM? why CAIA?

Haha. I’ve been thinking the same too. The only thing missing are dates and “references available upon request”…
I’ve heard from many people that FRM is as hard, and some say harder than CFA
