CFA level on business cards?

I have passed levels 1 and 2 of the exam and was wondering if there is any way to reference this on a business card. I know there is no partial designation, so what do you do with your business card?

bro, you need one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YBxeDN4tbk

i think putting it on your business card is taking it a bit too far

Best practice is to put Passed L 1 and 2 on the card. One easier way is to say something like John Doe, Almost CFA. In any case, you should not hesitate to put your accomplishments on your card. At the bottom, in small font, also add: Douchebag here!

How about don’t?!

Proof that you can fail ethics and still pass the CFA exams.

You should also add scent to your business card. I dip each one in Chanel No. 5.

+1 That put a smile on my face  Ethics…I know its a bore to read, but come on… K

I think CFA ethics permit you to say you passed level whatever on the business card, since it is factually true. You can only call yourself a candidate if you have paid the fees and haven’t yet recieved a result. This makes you wonder if you are obliged to recollect your cards from everyone and supply with new ones if your candidacy period expires, which is probably why it’s not a good idea. As for simple factual information. It’s permitted, but remember two things: 1) the card will hopefully be in the person’s Rolodex longer than you are going to be a candidate at that level. 2) the practice of putting levels passed on a business card is nonstandard and could be percieved as “grasping for straws.”. It may make more sense to talk about the exam as you are handing the card over to communicate your participation in the program. Resumes and online stuff is fair game, though. BTW, I generally put a date on my resumes; these things can live for a while in people’s files and on hard drives, so it can be a benefit to give people a sense about whether there might be new stuff that isn’t listed.

Excellent idea. Thanks for the tip!

Don’t hate, but really, do you have to let the world know you are a CFA candidate or a Charter holder? Can you not let your wisdom tell people you are on this path? I meet so many people with degrees and designations, only to prove that they really dont know much.

I don’t think I’d put it on my business card, but I’d give some thought to putting it on my tie bar, having it monogrammed on my pocket square (worn puff style) or engraved on my pinkie ring…

You can also write “got an A in finance in college” on your business card. Or “can bench 300 pounds”. Any achievement is welcome.
