Cfa Mock Exams 2011

I got 57%, in the ,CFA Mock 2011. Plzzzzz post your scores and tel every 1 how to get better?

I was killing the Schweser mocks… Then I took on the CFA mock and I got murdered then mutilated. I did not ever bother grade it. Going to study a lot more. I was sick like a dog when I took the CFA mock. I am tempted to blame it on that, but that would be a risk aproach.

i am not taking the CFA mock until i finish my CFAI EOC. Does anyone know how they stack against the EOC’s?

I found them very comparable. I guess the only reasons you would do worse on mocks are 1-) most likely you did EOC right after a reading, so you know what formulas to use and the material is still fresh 2-) with the mocks you gota read a two page case sometimes, and one little detail in there could kill you…for example you would have a question where you need the cost of equity to solve…well you see your BETA, RF, and Risk Premium, so you use CAPM Little did you know at the end of the case, in the last two lines, they tell you something like: “kelly decided to use a cost of equity of 10”

Gulf - what were your average Schweser scores? I found that the online sample exams were very hard, but I have been doing great on Schweser.

hey guys - is the mock essay format? do they grade it for you? or is it mostly item sets?

It’s all essay and you grade it!

Why does everyone have to be so rude? Just because you guys are stressed, doesn’t mean you need to take it out on AF! Smiley, it’s not essay format (at least not until L3) and they grade it for you. Good luck and ignore these goons!

I find the Schweser wording and style completely different to the CFA and thus this year am not looking at Schweser…

But is it to the point where Schweser mocks become useless…I meen valuing a SWAP is something you gota know how to do for example…Forget about how the questions that asks you to do it is worded… So what is your study plan for this year @lgirl44?

I was hoping on killin 10 schweser mocks and the rest CFA Mocks but after lgirl44 comment im worried HELP!!

From everyone I have polled who has passed Level II (7 people), my impression is the CFAI Mock is the most accurate gauge of how prepared you are, and the Schweser exams may be a little easy/different, but if you are scoring in the high 70’s or low 80’s on those, its a good sign. Granted, small sample size, but to support that, you don’t see many people in the other thread that I bumped who were scoring high 70’s/low 80’s on the practice tests last year posting in this forum: http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?12,1128756,page=6 Ultimately, gulf is right, you have to know the material. There are not any shortcuts, and knocking the top out of a practice test is no guarantee for exam day. But there is a certain skill to applying the material, learning how to analyze vignettes quickly and accurately. For that I will take all the practice tests I can get my hand on.

In fact, you can cross reference the post above to the pass/fail thread of last year: http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?12,1182195,1184020#msg-1184020 From just glancing through both, I saw a pretty high correlation between high practice/mock exam scores and pass/fail rates. It’s easy for someone to say that the actual test was completely unlike the mock, but I haven’t met anyone who consistently scored 80+ on the practice exams who failed.

Sorry- didn’t mean to cause panic! I felt pretty prepared last year just with Schweser, but this yr have stuck to just the CFA texts and questions and feel more confident that at least I have read everything and am more used to the CFA question style. Now just need to gain retention skills!

I bet this is a chick

Chances are, for those who are scoring better on the Schweser practice tests, you have been studying Schweser and using Q Bank. Which means you are used to the way Schweser asks questions, so of course the Schweser tests are going to be easier. Just do what everyone always says - get to the point where you score high on the Schweser tests, do all the EOC questions (with a focus on the topics you are weak in) and do the mock exam once you are comfortable with both of these. In my opinion, the mock CFAI exam should be done after doing all your Schweser mocks and the EOC questions, 2 weeks before the exam. You’ll score better, maybe not perfectly, but it gives you the chance to accurately assess where you are at go back and review the areas where you are weak. Good luck everyone and don’t freak out. You’ll all get there.
