Cfa mock vs actual exam

I know you’re not suppose to discuss specifics about past cfa exams. But I just want to know if the cfa mock is usually similar to the actual exam.

I find them quite similar to Schweser’s practice exams, i have never used Elan so i don’t know what does it look like. Similar as to style and difficulty, obviously exam focus can be different from one year to another, from one practice exam to another.

Thank you. I was actually referring specifically to the cfa mock which they release.

same hard level

2013 CFAI level II mock was brutal. For some questions i had a hard time understanding even the solution . I don’t remember the level I mock. the CFAI mock prepares you for the real exam, the way the CFAI asks questions, the finer nuances in their questions for topics like ethics. Use it as a learning tool.Do not get discouraged if you score poorly. And my suggestion is do not attempt the CFAI mock unless you have a decent grasp of the material. People may differ with me on this.

I realised real exam is quite easy than the mock test.

I’d agree that the real exam is slightly easier than the mock.

The mock by CFAI is all over the place, i find their solutions not very comprehensive. They sometimes only refer back to a LOS without explaining it.

And there is only one mock exam given for free on the website, so it’s not entirely helpful (if you only write one mock exam before actual exam, i think the chance of passing is quite low IMHO).

So there are more mock exams but you have to purchase them?

Of course!

2 Mocks are free of cost and for more you need to pay them.

I found that the actual was much more difficult than the mocks provided by CFAI.

Mocks from CFAI are not too useful in my opinion. (but of course, i do them anyway since they are FREE)

They are too easy and the answer key isn’t good at all!

some say the actual exams are tougher and some say the mocks are tougher…guess its all random

It depends - I got an easy mock and then the real exam was harder. But, since I studied quite hard and passed a lot of practice problems while scheduling my time with TimePrep (www.timeprep.me), it wasn’t that hard and I passed the L1 last year
