Has anyone been tracking where they are scoring (ie. percentile) with the online tests? I’ve completed 240/360 questions and have scored in the 71st percentile.
whats was your avg score on practice questions to be 71st percentile?
i have completed all 360 questions with an Avg score of 75%, and am in 66 percentile…i didnt expect the percentile to be so low…
Think about it this way, about half pass, right (dunno exact % but it’s in the ballpark)? So as long as your percentile is above that threshold you’re probably doing well.
People redo these topic tests over and over until they get a mark theyre happy with. This will severely skew the percentiles.
Also, i got 100% in institutional PM and am “proficient”. What does it take to be “Expert”?..
Yeah I noticed that too. I’ve had some wild volatility in my percentile (as low as 49, as high as 71) but my performance on the actual questions has consistently been around 67%-70%. So I just assumed that people were retaking the sections and skewing the percentiles. I guess I’m gonna be contributing to that now since I’m doing the topic tests a second time now myself.
so you think people are doing the questions and then resetting all questions…if thats the case im happy!! i reckon 75% is ok then
i got 83% in insto PM and am proficient as well. Im proficient in all PM topics but overall it says im advanced haha so no clue how these are calculated as I dont think that makes sense
I am coming out at 76% correct which translates to 67 percentile. I was wondering about the retakes as well. My percentile has been quite volatile as well.
So what happened to the topic tests? Are there no topic tests at level 3? Do these 360 questions take the place of the topic tests or are there additional topic tests on the CFAI website (separate from the 360) that I can’t find?
don’t be too harsh on yourself if your percentiles are not satisfactory.
it’s skewed by retakers and people who pride themselves in getting 100% of everything by memorizing answers rather than understanding the concepts.
it’s the real thing that ultimately matters.
This + the fact that there’s nothing stopping people from taking this as an “open-book” type of exam. I’d say focus more on your results, not the percentiles.
