been briefly discussed already but… are CFA Sample Exams worth taking? I have taken 4 full Schweser Exams and I’m taking 2011 CFA Mocks this weekend and 2010 CFA Mocks early next week. Better to take CFA Samples or focus rest of time on 2nd run thru of the EOC questions?
do take sample exam. they are quite representative of actual exam
Where do you get the CFA 2010 mock?
are the online CFA mocks worth taking? I think you cannot print them out, you can just take them online…
I took them and got a good dose of humble pie (felt like Schweser Mock Book 2 test1 AM!)…Sample 1 is difficult. I found it useful for getting different wording than Schweser. Plan on taking them again in a few days when my memory of what I did wrong will not be as fresh.
wow. sample 1 just rocked my world. f$$$$ck. any shred of confidence i had is gone… i’m done for tonight
@chitown2k4 just log on to cfainstitute.org go to your account you can def print out exam. i did it myself.
I keep reading posts about CFA mocks and samples. I think people are confused. The two two hour CFA samples that are done online and cost 40 bucks are not representative of any test. They are meant to help you diagnose where you need to study the most. The mock is more realistic in terms of difficulty. Samples are just meant to isolate your problem areas. There is also a “sample” that is a short twenty questions or so that is posted on their website, this is similar to a short mock.
are you saying this based on experience? cause it is very clear on the CFAI website that samples represent same difficulty of the real exam, with actual exam questions taken from past year’s … i hope you know by experience cause sample 1 was ridiculous…
edit
sample 1 destroyed the living daylight out of me. confidence is zero as of now. donno what to do or revise now. im stumped
sample is meant to be taken earlier in your preparation. I took it when I started revising last month and yes this is exactly how I felt! when I recovered from the shock it gave me motivation to work harder.
I never took any of these exams, which might explain why I keep failing L2! I can’t see how it makes sense to take an exam before fully reading the material, and of course I never fully read the material. Also, it just doesn’t make sense for me how taking a sample early on can help you isolate your problem areas…because early on, I wouldn’t be able to answer any question before reading the material…I mean this is not an intelligence test…this is a test based on preparation, memory recall, and analysis skills.
Taking 2011 sample now… I hope i get > 65
63 … crap.
@LincolnLogs - it specifically says right before you take the sample exam that it is meant to be representative of the actual exam. @mr_moose - I’m in the same boat. No idea where to go from here or how to revise. I went from averaging mid 70’s on 4 full Schweser Mocks, which gave me a little bit of confidence that I could get those to 80+ by test time, to thinking that I have not shot at all. @sumz - by the time I recover from the shock it will be test day guess i need to rethink my strategy for the next 7 days
To whoever is shocked by the sample exam - plz remember that one of the actual paper will be hard and one of it will be easy. so Sample 1 represents the hard one. If you got 60+ you are well on your way to pass this exam. If you are in 50s just work on weak areas and you will be fine. I scored in 50s too in Samples despite being a retaker. Hope it helps.
How much questions does each sample exam contain? I’m planning on hitting up those next week.

Is there any way to print out these questions? Or only the answers at the end…seems kind pointless to pay all that money if you can’t even review the questions you got wrong…
