CFA vs. CAIA Quantitative Methods

Is the CAIA Quantitative Methods section more difficult than the CFA Quantitative Methods section?

NO WAY!

Yes CAIA quant is tougher than CFA Quant for sure.

CFA harder

you CFA only dudes are smoking something i want CAIA math is most certainly more technical. CFA math is way easier. the hairiest math is PRM, then FRM, then CAIA, then CFA

I thought CFA quant was easy, but then again it was mostly statistics which is fairly easy to begin with. Big deal if CAIA quant is hard, overall the CFA tests are harder, nothing to cry over people. Also, I finally saw the fist Mr. Smith, CAIA the other day…kinda weird.

Quant is easy either way. J/k…quant is brutal

Out of curiousity, what is CERA typically used for? I have not encountered many people with it and am pretty ignorant about it.

I mean, obviously it is an actuarial designation, but what is the specialization supposed to be?

Yes, I think CERA has the most mathematical rigor of that group. It’s a designation meant for actuaries after all, who generally have a good math background. An FSA is very likely to be able to eat a CFA charterholder’s mathematical lunch.

i second that as well… JDV, i thought you said FRM was the hardest of the three… I was thinking to myself, what are you smoking there.

i have to say, i enjoyed my CFA and PRM much more than the CAIA. wow, i can’t believe i actually used ‘enjoy’ and CFA exams in the same sentence
