The score distribution is known after tests are scanned… CFAI could send out surveys to the top x% that are statistically assured of passing no matter what the MPS is_._
For sure they know our scores by now, and the MPS does not change significantly from year to year so those who socred above say 70 (which is already known by the institute according to the timeline, then it is reasonable to assume the candidate passed. Again not saying this is what the institute is doing or this is their process it is simply my own opinion
IMO, the survey does not indicate anything about a candidate passing or failing. I got the pre-exam survey and in that email it did indicate “You have been randomly selected to participate in this year’s pre and post-exam candidate surveys”. Focus on the bold part as it was clearly outlined long before I took the exam that I will be participating in the post-exam survey. So a post-exam survey email I received recently is no surprise to me as I already was expecting this long before I even took the exam.
If we’re going about theorizing, then I’ll give my 2 cents.
Now I haven’t recieved the 2016 Post exam survey, but if the survey asks what topics you felt were the most difficult, then I would GUESS that they sent the e-mail to the middle 50%.
I mean, if you’re in the top 25% or bottom 25%, then you probably had breathing room when you passed or missed passing by a mile. If I’m giving out that survey, I wouldn’t value your opinion as high as someone who was on the ‘fringe’.
Good point, makes sense in a way, but other facts revealed by the candidates and the institute contradicts your conclusion.
A candidate who did not sit for the exam but still received the post exam survey email.
A candidate who failed and also received the post exam survey.
The point made above my post that candidates are randomly selected before anyone sits for the exam ( statement by institute ).
Why are you still pushing for this conclusion?
EDIT: the aforementioned statement by the institute is actually inferred from the fact that they randomly select candidates to participate in pre and post exam surveys, which means that the selection process takes place before sitting for the exam. This is to clarify that it’s not stated but rather, inferred.
Peter13 - you initially said if you get the email you passed. Now you are saying that what d-rain11 said was correct - indicating they send it to the middle 50% and as we know the average person fails. Again contradicting what you originally said. My guess is you have never sat for an exam and are looking to shake peoples confidence with this nonsense. No d-bag who actually has respect for fellow candidates who put in the time/effort over the last several months would actually post nonsense like this. Grow a pair and actually sit for a f-ing exam and then come post on here. Otherwise go get a university of phoenix MBA and get off of AF.
You guys are all forgetting what the survey email said in the FIRST SENTANCE: “You have been randomly selected to participate in this year’s pre and post exam candidate surveys.”
