In my review I planned on doing all of the CFAI Reading Practice Problems. I started with Reading 14 (SS 4) and HOLY $HIT IT HAS TAKEN FOREVER! I’ve spent at least 2 hours on these problems and I still have one to go. Are all of the CFAI problems like this or is SS4 an outlier due to the nature of the material.
Well, some are like that-welcome to level 3 !!!
the ips stuff and most of the questions in volume 2 take very very long. things pick up a bit from volume 3 on but they are still very time consuming if you compare them to schweser questions. but yes, volume 2 takes the longest… it’s brutal. keep plugging away!
wait until you get to micro/macro attribution problems
Or global performance evaluation, reading 44 from the 2008 curriculum. At least with the IPS in Volume 2 you know you’re spending hours learning something that will be on the exam.
Don’t get discouraged by those CFAI end-of-reading questions. As far as I know, they are great for practice, and get to understand the small details of the material (which CFAI loves). Keep in mind the command word in the LOS…those questions ask way more than the command words requires. Make sure you understand the underlying concepts for those questions.

Bankin - I just ran into the same problem yesterday. I finally had to move on without finishing as I was burning out on IPS’s. I rationalized it by telling myself it would be good to leave a few unanswered so I could go back later and do them for review, but obviously I was just lazy.

I have found a bunch of new excuses/rationalizations for level III.
