CFAI Sample Exam #2

I was looking for some reassurance that I don’t suck after bombing Sample 2. After taking Sample 3 it appears that I do suck. Sample 3 66% What a freaking joke.

mwvt, now go take mock 1. you will get above 70. want to bet?

Give me odds. I will probably take it.

We will make it, I’m gonna do mock tomorrow and hopefully that won’t destroy my confidence…

Deep, I hope you make it. I am not feeling good at all about this now. I don’t know how to proceed. I am staring at flushing months of prep down the drain. Really disheartening.

I decided to start with Sample 2 having seen here that it seems to be the hardest of the 3. On the Schweser Book 6 tests my average scores were 79% on 1, 80% on 2, and 70% on 3. On the sample I just got a 63%! I’m so happy to be trending downwards the way I am. This is horrible. My only saving grace is that one ethics question which made no sense coupled with one stupid mistake (adding PVD to the spot price of a stock instead of subtracting). In addition, there were I think 2 questions where I was leaning toward an answer and picked another instead, which turned out to be wrong. I guess that tells me I should trust my gut, but it’s like, on exam day who knows which answer I would have picked. This is super frustrating! : (

Mock 2 is easier in my opinion. And don’t let the samples and mocks discourage you. They are only pieces of the whole. 30 questions - only 25% of real thing. You are ready. Plus, have you notice what has been lacking on the mocks and samples? I took both mocks and there was not one DDM and I think only one question asking for FCFF or FCFE. I thought that was very strange. And remember to look at 2006 again and compare that with the mocks and samples. Most people here would say that the “real thing”, i.e. 2006 was a lot easier. Keep hammering. We are almost there.

If we had gotten 50’s on sample 3 then I would say we are in big trouble. We improved and that is what is important. I learned a lot by doing the exam questions and I learned what to look for come exam day. I see you on the forums answering questions a lot more than I even know where to start. I know you know this stuff more than most of the people on the forums. After every exam, I make a note of my weak areas and go and review it and just keep going at it. I was completely destroyed after sample 2 and when I saw how close I was to a 70 on sample 3 I was more than happy (I have not even scored above 70 on any exams yet - schweser included but they were from 2006/2007) So if I (who still hasn’t gotten even one above 70 has not given up, you can’t espically since you rocked on schweser 1 pm and the 2006 CFAI mock) I know you’ll be in level 3 next year with dinesh and the rest of the AF-crew and I believe that and know that because if you don’t make it then the pass rate will probably be around 10% this year and we all know pass rates are in the 30-40 range  *Edit: spelling mistake

ok. there will be some disagreement on this since i’ve seen many posts saying sample 3 was a breeze. i didn’t think it was that easy. it was certainly easier than 2, but far from easy…
