CFP/MBA-working for Ed Jones, Ameriprise, et al

How does this compare to being a CFA? I think I would be happier dealing with clients one-on-one, doing fee-only planning (with some sales thrown-in) If, down the road, I decide to go the CFA route will working for Jones, Ameriprise, etc as a planner count toward the work requirement?

I worked for Ameriprise in a previous life (back when it was IDS, then IDS/American Express). It’s not “some sales thrown in”. At the beginning (for about the first 2-3 years, it’s a LOT of sales. As for the work requirements, call CFAI - that’s the definitive answer. But my guess is that it won’t count.
