oh God it always sound like everyone is ahead of me i have major chunks like FRA, Fixed Income and derivatives ahead :frowning: i didnt do Quant earlier too…any hopes for me? :frowning:

sumz: It depends if youre working or not. If youre working for the next 70 days then it will be tough but manageable if youre good at time management and plus if your workload is low.

I’ve got the months “free” too- am a 1st timer and using Schweser only; Sans the Self Test, I finished Quants and Derivatives… given most of Equities a read, yet to “do” it properly.

current status: pouring martinis and getting the chips out for my sunday poker game…after having studied for 6hrs today of course…i owe myself that much

Finishing Fixed Income. Will have 7 weeks for practice exams.

Gotten behind because of travel and work, but oh well, here is an update: Topic Finish Date Quant 5th December Econ 6th December Corporate 13th December Finance Portfolio Management 22nd January Derivatives 24th January Equity 15th February Alternative Assets 23 March Fixed Income 8 April Hope to finish the entire material by Easter! So much for Easter plans!

Plenty of time if you have only ethics and FRA to do… im sure you will be done before may leaving a full month of practice/revision! good luck! Seems its not taking you very long to finish each topic apart from gaps (work/travel etc). How many hours are you roughly spending to tackle these topics?

Finished reading Schweser, EOC, QB @75% done. CFAI- all topics EOC done. ----------------- Started revision on April 1st- through with FSA, PM,ECON… For revision I am going through my notes, CFAI EOC questions (again) and advanced questions from question bank for each topic keep in mind I am a retaker…

2 weeks ago…schweser exam frok book 1…a pleasant surprise, result came in at 70%…this morning I tried another,56%…Ouch!..I really do need to get my act together!

Hi everyone! Been really busy for the last 2 months! Do you think I stand a chance considering I start now!..I am absolutely free for the next 54 days. Any advice/strategy on how to proceed would be helpful.

Hey guys… I’m yet to do FRA!!!, hoping to scale it in about 4 days (19th-21st), gonna use Text Book for FRA as 1. it is the most challenging for me and 2. It appears Schweser screwed up consolidations?? So far i’ve covered everything else in schweser, and done the questions there… last week I started on EOC questions in the Text Books and am currently on Equity, hoping to have it finished by latest Friday 14th. To be quite honest, i prefer the math side of most things e.g corp fi, i find theories on Electronic Communication and Crossing networks quite cumbersome. I really feel like I dont have enough time to do all my EOC, knock out FRA, do past papers (which i currently do not have) and go over Secret Sauce before the exam. I do however have the week before the exam off, but exactly how much can one study and hope to retain in 7 days… What annoys me is, there is so much detail and so many nuances…sight L1 was a walk in the park compared to this… any tips/pointers/advice?? and how are you folks going?

Going through my 3rd pass on the Secret Sauce, did all the vignette style EOCs up to reading 44 and the PM readings. Completed 2/3 of the Stalla Practice exam book with the following results: Sample 1: 78/76 Sample 2: 75/71 Completed CFAI samples with the following results: Sample 1: 66% Sample 2: 69% My schedule is going to be pretty rough the next couple of weeks as I have yet to take the following mock exams: CFAI, BSAS, Stalla, and Finquiz. I am also thinking about doing the Schweser mock and practice exam books 1+2, but we’ll see how that goes.

just finished schweser exam 3 am part schedule this week to finish pratice exam vol 1 and another whole exam(am+pm) if okay I’d like to finish reading the secret sauce…have yet reached the end of FSA

You all sound like you are doing well. My wife just gave birth to our second child a week ago and my powers of concentration have dimmed a bit. I finished my Schweser readings and notes a month ago (in anticipation) so I at least have gone through all the material once and I am finishing up an abbreviated pass through selected Schweser and CFAI EOC questions through this Friday. On Saturday, I’ll take my first half-mock CFAI and then do the pattern of trouble spot review, qBank, and 1/2 mock every two days and every day on non-work days. Two weeks before the exam, my family is going on vacation until 6/6 to give me total peace and I’m taking the week off before the test so I should be able to peak by test time with little room to spare! Good luck!

Took Exam 3 in the Stalla book today with the following results: AM: 70 PM: 83 The morning session tested areas I was unclear about, especially goodwill impairment testing and a few conceptual quant questions. Upon checking my answers, there were silly mistakes made here and there. I managed to regain my composure in the PM session and even finished early (roughly 2 hours).

Just finished my first schweser practice exam @ 70%, so feeling ok but still quite unprepared. not bad for two weeks of studying (started l2 prep on may 2nd), if I can just keep up the level of effort (very intense) for the next two and a half weeks (to leave a few days to chill before the exam) I should be able to pass with some luck. I had been worried given my late start that I had no chance of passing, but it may actually be possible. best of luck all

Just finished the BSAS mock with the following results: AM: 73 PM: 78 There were 2 vignettes where I completely fell apart: the options vignette in the morning and the FX translation vignette in the afternoon. I couldn’t read the formulas provided in the options vignette even if my life depended on it. Fairly enough, I got all the questions wrong in derivatives. The FX translation and a few of the equity questions gave me huge amounts of trouble. That was a huge WTF moment. I also disliked they fact answers from previous questions were relied upon in order to answer subsequent questions, which is not how it will be on test day. But overall, I was fairly satisfied with the BSAS product. In terms of actual exam layout, this is probably the closest to the real deal, sans ethics (which seemed pretty straightforward).

Great news my wife is taking the kids away to my fathers house tomorrow night through mid day on Sunday. I get to spend the whole time doing the 2nd 1/2 of the CFAI Mock, the BSA Mock, Schweser Mock exam 2 book 2 and go over what I missed. Go over my sucky areas again and again. It’s sad when you are happy you get to study for 4-6 hours on Friday 14 hours Saturday 8 hours on Sunday and 3 hours on Monday of Labor Day weekend.

Just took the Stalla Mock exam, which marks my 10th practice exam. Results are follows: AM: 80 PM: 87 I arrived at the NYPL this morning only to find it was closed for the weekend. Luckily, I found a library near my house that was open. Despite it being a library, it is probably the worst place to study. From cell phones to kids running around and the like, it was hard to maintain focus. I even saw one lady arguing with the librarian, which lasted for about 20 minutes. I pretty much gave it my all today, and am starting to feel burnt out. This seriously impairs my ability to do Schweser Book 2 over the next two days, so I’ll see how much I can get done. I have the Schweser Mock marked on my calendar for Tuesday, which is a definite must.

ATH: Congrats on the new edition!
