Agreed. Next year we have decided to just adopt a couple of families and give them presents instead. Anything I want that could actually be given by my family/friends as a present, I buy. Our relatives can give stuff to the kids, preferably memberships to zoo, art museum, aquarium, etc. or stuff they want to keep at their house for when we visit.
The commercial aspect of the holidays really does ruin it for me if taken to far. Also, I’d much rather have a really nice pair of socks than a hundred pieces of crap.
