1,133,335,300* AVG shares traded in August (Source* yahoo finance: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=C&a=00&b=3&c=1977&d=08&e=23&f=2009&g=m) I haven’t seen such volume for Citi group for last 10 years (I can potentially be wrong at this since I am only referring to data from yahoo finance).I think it will be alot of speculation on Citigroup in next 10-15 days since they are reportin their quarter on 15th october. What do you guys think about C’s performance atleast untill the end of 09. I am Level 1 candidate and I feel its extremly hard for me to value Citibank even atleast to some extent coz it needs alots of experiance and also there is this widespread belief that *No one understands financials* but trying much to get as much as possible out of supplementary info like confrence calls, press releases, reviews etc. Do we have any banking analysts here ? Any recommendations, books etc that can help in banks valuation I am a beginner so I will start from basic. (Ordered Already: Commercial Bank Valuation by William D. Miller)
.
the volume is high b/c the stock price is low and the number of outstanding (non-govt owned) shares is double what it was at any point before 2009. more shares, lower price, more volume.
