Citi on the block

I’ve said it before - after what we have witnessed recently, how does the gov’t allow another bank buy a monster like Citi? I feel that we have chosen to allow firms to get too big to fail. Doesn’t this have to be considered as much of a hazard as the monopolies that we try to prevent. I would argue that the firms that are too big to fail are more of a harm than a monopoly. This will not be the last recession these banks face. The next time, if it doesn’t happen this go around, Uncle Sam will end up running these banks because there won’t be any white hats to save the behemoths.

The gov’t needs to make the impression that these companies need to fend for themselves and that uncle sam isn’t uncle moneybags.

tom borwn @ bankstocks nailed it
